The Visit to the Lacquer Factory and Chilling with Vietnam Coffee @ Caet Dang Coffee Stall

Uish...tak abis-abis lagi gambar kat Vietnam????

Kalau nak load semua sampai tahun depan tak abis. Kamera aku sorang je dekat 1000 keping aku snap. Semua gambar yang aku suka. One thing about carrying a digicam is that kalau ada gambar tak cun boleh terus delete....

*sampai penuh okey hard drive I ambik gambar dari my sisters'....hahahahaah*

Anyway, after the short stint at the opera house we boarded our bus to go to a lacquer factory nearby....

*ni hotel high class kat sini.....tapi kalau nak dok kat sini satu malam get ready USD400 for a room per night.....rela?*

P/s : Kami dok kat hotel 3 bintang je....sob sob...even the walls are so thin orang sebelah berbisik pun boleh dengar.....inikan pulak kalau tengah ehem ehem kan....okay, let's not go there....

Lacquered good is one of the main traditional stuff here, so kalau datang Ho Chi Minh sila beli satu! Ye la, kalau pergi melaka beli kebaya nyonya, kalau pergi jawa beli batik jawa....so datang Ho Chi Minh sila beli barang lacquer.

They lacquer all sort of stuff - jewellery box, paintings, potteries, pinggan mangkuk bagai la......some of my bosses even brought back those scenic paintings.....

And so we got the tour on the production floor. What's interesting about this place is that it is fully run and operated by the blind and deaf association.

*raw material*

*working on the raw material*

*almost done - prior to glazing*

So bila dah siap inilah hasilnya.....

*i like this mucho....sexy noks!!!*

Tapi takde la aku membeli belah di sana. The factory overpriced everything, in which at the end you can get the things cheaper outside, or at any of the night markets in town.

*I bought myself a lacquered jewellery box for RM25.....kalau kat factory ni dia jual about USD50 satu. Apa ke gilo apa beza banyak tak hengat?*

Sigh.

The tour took about 40 minutes, and by the time we were done, the tour guide brought us to a local coffee shop to experience the famous Vietnam Coffee!!!!

*Cat Dang Coffee*

In town you can also find designer coffee shops like Gloria Jeans sprouting but then tak best la pi jauh-jauh and then minum coffee kat kedai yang kat KL pun ada kan???

But then I heard compared to coffee salons like this.....kalau nak experience yang lagi kaw punya coffee you have to go to the streets. Tapi mak ai, ko tok sah cerita la macam mana scary nye nak pi lepak kat kedai-kedai tepi jalan dia kan.....so next time je la.

*thats me....with my Nine West mini bag...comel kan? It's been a loyal buddy during my travels for 2 years now, sangat value for money*

But then I have to give a thumbs up on the ambience la, its so laid back and relaxing kalau ada banyak coffee shop macam ni kat KL pun I wouldn't mind at all.....

*everyone busy grabbing a seat*

*belakang tu macam mini air terjun okey, air turun from the roof top*

So this is the moment we've all been waiting for......

*Drumroll*......Vietnam Coffee...Hot & Strong.....

*see betapa banyaknya coffee dalam filter....ada la agaknya 3 sudu besar*

*susu dia pun banyak - you are suppose to patiently wait for the coffee to slowly drain out of the filter into the condense milk....and this may take quite some time...like dekat 20 minit pun ada*

Gila lama okay nak minum coffee dia. 30 minit pun belum tentu abis lagi....

*my coffee in ice.....since dia takde la bancuh terus kan....when the coffee filter drips it final drop then kacau sikit to mix the milk and the coffee then curah in the glass filled with ice*

*Having my first sip*

So, apakah rasanya?

Ia sedap!!!!Tapi beware...ia sangat pekat dan kalau ambil the one with the milk.....very sweet. Masa first sip tu rasa macam kena bom ngan coffee flavours...it was intense!

*and after one glass....get ready la berak hitam for 3 days.Tak percaya? Kalau berani cuba la*

*future WAG's*

I have to say that I did take more than an hour to finish a cuppa. That's like the longest coffee drinking attempt ever ok. I am an avid fan of coffee myself, tapi tak pernah la sampai berjam-jam aku dok kat kedai nak abiskan satu cawan semata-mata.

I bet kalau dapat ni segelas sebulan lepas tu aku boleh bertahan tanpa minum coffee. Pekat dowh.

Sigh.

Anyway, an interesting fact to share.....

*do you know that all tree's in Ho Chi Minh are numbered???*

Yeah....semua pokok-pokok diorang dinomborkan as conservation effort to save the trees in the city. So in case diorang tebang satu...they will have to tanam a new one somewhere else to ganti.

On the way to the hotel, the tourguide said jokingly....

"To vietnamese, handphone is a luxury. So most of the time if we want to go out on a date, we just send a letter with a date and number of tree we should meet"

Boleh kah gitu?

Hahahahahaha....

So later that evening a friend strolled by the park in front of the hotel and saw a couple (heavily) making out. Hahahaaha. Gilo. Kalau kat taman KLCC mampus dah semua budak ni kena tembak. He came back to the hotel with an astonished face...and my reaction was....

"Kat taman depan tu ke....pokok nombor berapa???*

Hahahahahaah!

Gila.

Nasib baik dia lupa. Kalau tak ada la aku bawak sekumpulan askar pi ngintai.

Phewh.

Back to Vietnamese Coffee...Hot and Strong...heheheeheh!

Shasha....

Aku minum coffee ni 2 cawan seminggu aku naik risau ok tengok hasil buangan aku...hehehehe.....so memang la kalau aku pun setahun sekali boleh la minum benda ni....

Hi salwa...

tak payah la ber akak-akak dengan sayo....hahahahah....zu cukup!

Cat Dang coffee ni macam starbucks....macam cendawan je kat bandar Ho Chi Minh tu. Kalau tak try Cat Dang, you can also try Highlands Coffee...pun agak kaw sampai pengsan jugak la coffee dia.Highlands Coffee ni pun banyak outlet around town.Memang my collegues aritu petang2 selalu jalan kaki pergi the shop.

Another tip, kalau nak bawak coffee balik for souvenier, tak payah beli atas bas masa tour or kat the boutique coffee...mahal ok. You can get both the coffee and the filters kat any of their supermarket....its more than half the price less.

Hope that helps.
