I'll look prettier if I am slimmer???

....don't we all darling?

Sebab tu la after balik from the long Istanbul-Bali trip I am determined to shed the weight.

Al kisah I am at my all time low after raya baru baru ni sebab my relatives semua sibuk wonder why the hell I am gaining weight at record breaking time. Yeah right, as if ME gaining weight adalah masalah utama dunia - pollution, war, etc semua tu tak sebesar masalah I gain weight. I was like wtf la kan, as if you even cared what happened to me since last raya, nak call sekali 6 bulan pun susah....bila jumpa aku sibuk pulak sub-analyse tujuh lapan kali kenapa aku gemuk.

Fine!

*emo tetiba*

Anyways, sebenarnya takde la masalah besar pun sebenarnya....dulu lepas breakup dengan arif I balloon to the exact same weight they are all complaining right now (yeah, mak jemah dah kembali ke original weight 4 tahun yang lalu) and masa kat Cagamas, boleh je lose all that supaya boleh makan dan bergumbira sesuka hati hingga ke hari ini. Tak percaya go back to Dec 2009 punya post, you will go amazeballs!

Hahhahaahha!

*mood ceria balik!*

So I am replicating the exact same thing I did years back - food control using HL - and now trying to find the push to go back to exercising. Iekaz did it! Not on HL of course, she didn't need it sebab dia takde la overweight like me (omg, kalau u tengok my body fat %  now, you'll faint!) but my dear friend exercise and she runs like every week and changed her food consumption behaviour to be more healthy - so (slowly eh!) I aspire to be like her!

*she hit 58 kgs today! So proud of you Iekaz, hugs!*

Anyways, back to the main story. Digress pulak....

.....semalam pergi HL group meeting. Fine, admit it, I need a push, so I joined a weight loss support group (ceeeehhhh, cam masuk AA pulak). Trust me its a good thing, I need the motivation. Lately cam bila nak buat semua benda rasa malas (sigh!). We talked about healthy eating - yes, kitorang bukan kumpulan mak jemah gossip pasal weight loss je, kitorang belajar pasal nutrisi ok - like good protein, bad protein, good fats, bad fats etc - then at the end baru sesi check progress and heart-to-heart sharing (chewah!) and somewhere in between my friend Sherene actually said....

..."babe, u look much better now I notice you have sharp facial features. If you slim down you will look very pretty!!!"

Homai.

But then look at me with the rest of my group....

...memang dah pretty dah pun kan??

Hahahahah! Perhaps dia nak stress on the word VERY.

*grin*

Oklah, before I crap the hell out of this I better stop.

Today's OOTD is a simple vintage kurung matched with earrings from Red's Revenge (again!). Excuse me, there'll be loads of RR stuff to come since I bought a loot last couple of days...so bear with me.

Have a good Thursday peeps! Keep on spreading the positivity!

Notakaki : Sape nak lose weight bersama2 feel free to buzz me! The more the merrier! :D

Good Morning Gorgeous!!!!

Wow! I love this week. I feel good almost everyday. It's superhard to get a feel-good-all-week-mood these days, I definitely have to exercise and eat right more often. I suppose my hormones are more balanced and thereefor, making me feel good and happier.

Now to work on my sense of humor and voila I'm set! They say if you get to laugh all day it'll be good for everything.

*grin*

Shahnaz and I threw a small dinner date to celebrate Kom's birthday yesterday. Poor girl, everyone is getting more busy with other stuff and priorities we all tend to drift apart.

Sigh. All this while Komala has been a great glue to our close-knitted friendship - bad bad bad of us if we miss her out. One good thing about her is that she never burst out and complain or be angry - we are so blessed to have such a good friend.

Hugs! Oh yes we all love her. It'll be very sad when she had to leave KL and join her future hubby in JB.

We had dinner in Bens at BV - while waiting I manage to burn my wallet with a loot from Red's Revenge booth conveniently located in the open area....

Oh the accessories are to die for and their dirt cheap. Where can u have cool dangling earrings for 10 bucks these days? Even Diva charges like almost RM20.

And their are super funky.

So there I was, going bonkers filling my mini baskets with practically everything from earrings to necklaces to headbands. Never bought a single thing in the outlet in Publika even when I actually pass in front of the shop every single day during lunch hour but tonight??? What has gotten into me???

Perhaps its the good mood!

Shahnaz and I met up earlier because Komala was late - she had to go for physio. One of the downsides of ageing is that it comes with a lot of health problems and one of it is back problems - I have tonnes of friends who experience slip disc and what not. Oh crap do I get it correct? Well you guys know la, something along the line.

So its important to take care of ourself. Watch what we eat, exercise. There were countless times when I complain about knee pains and breathing problems and my doctor's only solution was "Zuraida, you need to shed the weight and exercise more. Try a walk in the park for 30 mins 3 times a week" and I go "what??? You don't have some magic meds to deal with this?".

Well taking pills is never a good solution. Not in the long run anyway.

So its good to identify health concerns early and opt on prevention steps. I believe going organic is a good thing. I might not be an avid fan know but there's nothing wrong with consuming organically produceed goods thats prevents harm from entering your body. And taking the right supplements. We have to understand that everyone is different - a supplement that is good for one person may be bad for another - so understanding what our body needs and taking the correct supplement may help our well being in the long run.

Tolong jangan hentam semborono ambik supplements and gebang bagai and after that hentam orang lain tak tentu pasal just because they don't believe in what you believe - be educated and do whats best.

Semalam I decided to go for Ben's bread panzanella and eggplant salad.

I love their salads.....two portions are super huge for me because the eggplant macam kembang later dalam perut.  I thought we might need an extra pizza to cover the potential lack of fullness once we are done with the salad but no....I was good for the rest of the night.

On top of that we had Bisou's red velvet cake (they sell them in mini's and nicely decorated, can you believe it???). Sublime.

Look at how excited Komala is with her first Pandora bracelet....

She was oggling the same bracelet when she was getting a gift for my birthday and we thought hey, since her idea of getting us our first Pandora let to more money spent on Pandora (seriously, a lot I tell you) why don't we drag her into the same craze so we can all be merry about it??

*grin*

The bracelet looks nice next to her engagement ring though. Tried to zoom to awe all of you of what she is rocking but I suppose I have to make her show off the ring rather than the bracelet if I wanna do that la kan?

That was yesterday.

OOTD is casual black with studded Kiss&Tell shoes in red. Oh the 4+ inch heels is super awesome, it gives a slimming look in all the mirrors at work. Ok la, I need the added height....tapi sebab berat tak berani pakai tinggi2 selalu. But then you wait....who knows la kan what will happen in a couple of months?

*Grin*

I rocked my loot from Red's Revenge today.....

Definitely compliments the black in a no-makeup face.

Stay happy. Have a good day y'alls!

13 hours and two flights - seriously,,,,that long?

Set a date with my travel buddy to meet up tomorrow to exchange photos and in lieu of doing so decided to go through my photo loot and edit as many as I can and gosh I'm super lazy to do so. I wish all the pics can magically edit itself and turn to a nice album or something. Sigh. We really need an app for that. I would buy one. I suppose many others will be willing to do the same.

The flight to the exotic land of Trurkey takes about 13 hours give or take - personally I have not been in such long flight in a while....last being years back when I was still in school. Ok la....admit that over this past decade I have been scavenging asia a lot, now I suppose its high time to check out elsewhere.

Winks.

But then as always, there is no place like home. I know I'd miss my own country the moment I left it because as I am repeatedly reminded how blessedly beautiful this country is till the very minute I board a flight.

Oh yes, even KLIA is sublime.

You know what's more sublime?

Teh tarik and nasi lemak!!!

Miss it the minute I leave. In fact...belum blah pun boleh miss both of this sinful food. And being me I don't skimp on food....I love my food and if its 1000 cal per serving I won't skimp anything that will blur out the taste.

Apa kes minum teh tarik tak cukup rasa kan?

Better take ONE perfect cup than MANY of substandard ones.

The last trip I had the liberty to fly on Qatar Airways, selalunya kalau pi jauh2 mesti naik MAS kan - alkisah harus la support our own national carrier - but then to my surprise QA's service is not bad at all.

The food was good. My travel buddy and I dotted the choc mousse cake. The in flight entertainment was good too. The movies are quite current - while on air I manage to catch up on movies that I wanted to watch but didn't manage to since I got so busy - like The Internship.

There you go. Sorang satu skrin. Siap touch screen lagi. Tapi I lagi suka guna remote!

Itu dia remote kegemaran!!!

Jakun seh! Hahahahah!

Anyways thats my travel buddy for the 10 day trip - we knew each other from work back when I was in Cagamas ( but then she was not in Cagamas) and we still keep in touch all this years.

First trip together. Look at that excited faces!!

Ok la, dia tak berapa excited sebab tak sempat make-up!

heheheh!

The trip was long. We did a stop in Doha for an hour before taking the connecting flight to Istanbul.

There you go - Doha from above. Tempat dia panas ya rabbi. Dalam airport pun boleh berpeluh. Thank God the wait is not that long sebab seriously I can't imagine being stuck there too long. Besides, everything is pricey in Doha airport - the food, the water, the duty free - not fun at all.

But the transit system is very very well organised. I like.

:)

We arrived in Istanbul abt 6pm Istanbul time and spent the night at a hotel in the old city before leaving for Ankara the next day. We opted to take a domestic flight to Ankara to just save the 7 hour journey between Istanbul and Ankara and sub it with beauty sleep. Hehehehe! Bijak bijak. Seriously the price difference is not that much - and a good night's rest makes us happy travellers....kan???

Contrary to popular beliefs, Ankara is safe to travel to now (no bombings whatsoever) and the place is kind of nice because they have the Anatolian museum there that have all the Hitite tablets.

Oh I am a sucker for history, don;t you know? If its up to me I'll be in museums for hours and hours just reading all the history ; of course I like the less crowded places - kalau ramai sangat orang I lari sebab stress.

:)

Plus if you go to Ankara you get to visit the tomb of Mustafa Kamal Attaturk. Our history books painted a grim story about this dude, sure....he suppressed Islam in his attempts to modernise Turkey, but from what I gather the Turks dot this guy, he must have been misunderstood.

Alas...will post pic of Ankara next.

As of now, enjoy my breakfast while waiting for my flight....

Bagels and coffee.

The coffee is nothing to shout for. I still prefer the coffee I had in Phnom Penh - oh so divine. Perhaps the Turks is more of a tea people than coffee people.

Till laters.

In a good mood I am.....

....yes I am.

I think the Hatha practice yesterday did good to me - I slept better, I felt oxygen underneath my skin, my back feels great and I am definitely calmer. I even woke up early today and spent an hour in the shower - just enjoying the water while I took the time to shampoo my hair.

Albeit an early morning wake up, I still left the house the exact same time I always did. It was 9am in the morning an the sun was fantastic. That's rare these days, considering that it had been a bit cloudy lately due to the rain.

Not that I am complaining. But a sunny morning always beats cloudy days.

Its definitely a good day. I should do this more often.

Workload had been slow today, so I took the time to do some of my own stuff (like getting articles and stuff)....better do it while I can because who knows what kind of madness I will be in tomorrow at work. Everyday is a surprise here in the office - there is always a need to give more than what is expected, not to mention countless adhoc request that can drain the living daylight out of you.

Sigh.

But its good that the day is kind to me today.

My trip to the Egyptian Spice Market, Istanbul

OMG lamanya pompuan ni nak update blog dia sampai basi dah cerita jalan jalan dia....

Errrmmm....

In my defense my pics belum abis transfer lagi. Some of it is still with my travel buddy. My schedule got crazy the moment my holidays ended jadi there's not even a minute spared to share my photos with friends. There are times when I am just too tired and even when my friends do ask about the trip, I barely chattered.

Kronik sungguh tahap bz!

Sigh.

Anyways its Friday, and rather than succumb to more work stress I just decided to share some of my travel pics....so kita semua boleh cuci mata!!!!

:)

I didn't exactly explore Istanbul on my first day of arrival. I braved long hours and hilly trips across Turkey before finally got the chance to explore the capital city. I have to say that despite all odds, the country is lovely....and I think the Turks are very very lucky to get a chance to live in such a beautiful place. All my pics came up like a postcard picture even when I didn't even bother to drag my Lumix along - I just settled with my Iphone 5 and still get amazing pics to go home with. Plus the country is rich in culture - I wish I got to stay longer and just soak in more history. I love the stories I get to listen along the way - too bad the trip is very short comparatively to the stories that needs to be told.

Perhaps the rest of the stories are for the other times. Hopefully.

One of the most colorful places that I visited during the 10 day trip was the Egyptian Spice Market. To shopaholics who adores markets (like moi) this is truly a shoppers heaven - what you get at Grand Bazar you can get it here too at a fraction of a cost. Okla, Grand Bazar has better textile and carpets - but who's gonna carry carpets anyway. Of course, don't expect a Bukit Bintang version of shops la - if you want high end stuff go to Nisantasi - sebijik macam Orchard or Bukit Bintang.

Here are some pics at the Spice Market....

Turkish lamps - you can hang them, stand them , leave them be , turn it to chandeliers - love love love the cracked glass designs I bought the one in red at the top which now sits next to my queen size bed at home. They come in small, medium and large and its cheap to boot ; the medium size can go between RM30 to RM40 per piece.

Smaller versions to put jewellery trinkets (half a mug) goes for about 5 lira - thats close to RM8.

This uncle sell Turkish tea on the go. I am not sure what the daun daun is for but I suspect those are mints.

The bazar sets on a centre square with inner roads surrounding the bazars itself p- the outer shops are definitely way way cheaper than the shops in the center of the bazar so if you do get there, spend some time roaming around before deciding on a purchase. I am glad that I have extra free time after my Istanbul city tours, so instead of just spending an hour in the bazar during the city visits, I get to spend half a day at the bazar (from noon till the bazar closed at around 7pm) and end up with quite a loot of my own.

Oh teka apakah ini?

Its like foamed yogurt drink - served on huge mugs kinda like beer mugs.

Orang sana minum macam minum teh tarik.

Sumpah I takut nak try. Hahahahha.

And of course la dah namanya Spice Market - there must be spices. They have jewelleries and stuff too...

For tea lovers you can easily find organic tea sold in and out of the bazar. Look at those colors? The pinkish ones have lavender, lime and rose.

This is the small size glass ornaments I told u earlier. Comel kan??

For those of you who love gemstones (like me)...walk at the back alley and you can find shop selling loose and treated gemstones at rock bottom prices, You can get anything from amethyst to quartz and whatnot from the price of 1 lira (thats about RM1.60) onwards.

They also have some shops selling arabic perfumes at the back - though nice I'm a tad American with my scents.

Another interesting thing I got from the market is the Turkish tea sets.

Cantek kan????

They have the simple ones that is made of either plastic or silver, ones that are adorned with crystals and they even have ceramic ones that have Turkish art on it.

I got a basic set in silver for 40 lira (thats about RM60) at one of the shops at the back alley. I first saw the set kat a shop at the side of the bazar, and when I started bargaining the owner said if I want to get better price I better go to their other shop like 5 mins walking distance away.

I don't know what I was thinking tapi the shop is a bit secluded - macam kat t1st floor macam tu. Masa mula2 tu I felt a bit scared jugak la ikut the shop owner - mana tau dia bawak kedai belakang-belakang ni silap2 aku kena mug ke apa. But then it end up he's quite trustworthy - memang ada more choices at the shop and he gave me 40% off the price as compared to the first shop ; with a free dulang and two mini sugar containers.

Okla.

Muka takut tak?

Anyways, note to myself and all, next time perhaps better pergi berdua or bertiga - then takde la scary meri bila kena pergi tempat macam the second shop kan. Kalau kat Thailand ke, Indon ke sumpah aku dah halfway lari balik.

Dah penat jalan jalan lepak kat the main gate makan jagung.

Like I say if you are hunting for textile or carpets , you will have better luck at the Grand Bazar (and its surrounding areas) but if you are hunting for trinkets and souvies , do spend some time at the Spice Market because you can definitely get cheaper souvies here.

Tapi kalau nak Turkish delight sila pergi hafiz mustafa. They make the delicacy fresh (you can see it from the windowsill) and they package it way  better than the shops kat bazaars ni. Bukannya jauh pun - like 10 mins walk from spice market dia ada outlet - cari je dalam google map hafizmustafa1864.

Oh yeah google map sangat reliable di sana. I walked between bazaars and my hotel with ease and since they have a lot of small alleys, its good to have a reliable moving map because there is definitely a tendency to miss a road and get loss punya.

Till laters.

xoxo.

The office is kinda cray cray.....

Its the time of the year when all of us needs to sit down and start doing our budgets and gosh do I get my spine all split to pieces hearing all the "No"s instead of the "Yes" so in light of my recent budget depression, I have decided to get myself a new moleskin.

*to write notes on - since with all the budget cuts, I can foresee that I'll be stuck in the exact same role for another year and pink moleskins beats read free planners they are going to give away because its my favourite color therefor less depressing*

 Cheer up!

Well part of being a cost center department, being able to save a penny more shows bigger brownie points so (big sigh) to crazily trying to minimise as much cost as possible. Being an accountant I should be more apt to savings anyway but then why the heck does others allowed to lavishly spend when the rest of the world have to cry for cookie crumbs?

Yeah because life is unfair.

Chin up, tomorrow's Friday. Should think positive thoughts then the day will be more positive.

Laters.

Back home!

Yes. I am home. From a 20 day break that is super surreal. It took me a week to get over the jetlag - the different time zones and endless early mornings to catch the sunrise tours did take a toll on me ; my eyes goes big like an owl on the stroke of midnight and kept on going strong till early Subuh - but I'm all out and dope by 5pm every single day for the past week.

It was great though. I had fun. The places I went to was beautiful - I am safe home and I am still in awe at how amazing it was.I manage to a few things I had in my bucket list, like go hiking (managed to hike Mt Batur, what an experience! I have to admit, halfway I almost cried!), took a hot air balloon ride (and I thought I'd be sick of the heights but hey, it was not so bad, I actually enjoyed it!), be in Asia and Europe on the same day (yada yada yad, the most do thing in Turkey), haggle my way alone in a foreign land (for once, a place that is totally alien to me - yes, Indonesia and Thailand does not count) and of course, be more friendly when meeting new people.

:)

Of course have always been friendly. But then it use to take quite sometime especially when I am travelling alone and all.

I am dying to share my pics. I still haven't got time to go through the whole bunch of piccas in my lappy because I have been busy catching up with sleep and all the tv series that was released when I was away. Can you believe it, I have finish almost 50 episodes over this weekend alone?

God bless that my fav epi's (vampire diaries, drop dead diva, suits and all) are back and I have added new epi's that's worth watching to the list (orange is the new black - awesome, the originals, sleepy hollow, moms, crazy ones, the blacklist, do no harm) and with a few more coming up (the walking dead particularly) I am all psyched.

*grin - tv geek mode*

For now invade my insta for photo updates. Till later.

Happy Hari Raya Aidil Adha to everyone. Have a good break all!

Hugs
